Deck Building & Formats

Your cards live in your collection; your decks only point at them. Adding a card to several decks doesn't use it up.

In development

Deck rules and the Deck Builder may change before release.

The Deck Builder

Open Deck Builder from the city menu. It has three columns: the selected card large on the left, your Main Deck and Extra Deck in the middle, and your card library on the right.

  • Drag a card from the library onto the Main or Extra Deck to add a copy; drag it back to remove it. Add and Remove next to the large card work too.
  • Pick a saved deck from the dropdown at the top, rename it or start a New Deck.
  • Save stores a deck, even an unfinished draft. Use for Duels saves it and makes it your active deck; the active deck must always be legal.

Finding cards

  • Dropdowns filter by card type, attribute and what you own (cards you can still add, cards in or not in the deck, 2+ or 3+ copies, Astra Rare copies, cards with a special rarity).
  • Sort by name, ATK, DEF, level, card type, owned count, attribute, monster type or limit.
  • Search matches names, card text and IDs. Words match in any order, "quoted words" match as one phrase and -word leaves out cards with that word.
  • MORE FILTERS opens a panel with many more: monster kinds (Flip, Spirit, Union, Toon, Ritual, Fusion…), Spell and Trap kinds, several attributes at once, monster type, level, ATK and DEF ranges, dozens of card effects read from the card text, and archetypes. Each chip shows how many of your cards match.

Your binder

The library doubles as your binder. Right-click a card to show it large in the middle of the screen:

  • Chips under it show every pull rate you pulled the card at and every rarity you own it in. Click a rarity chip to see that look.
  • Each Astra Rare copy has its own tile and shows its serial number.

Cards and decks as items

Cards can also be held as items in your inventory (I > ITEMS > CARDS):

  • TO INVENTORY in the binder view or the Deck Builder moves copies there; ADD TO BINDER or ADD ALL puts them back.
  • Some copies have limits: cards from starter decks and some gifts are locked (playable, but not tradeable), and some gifted copies are timed: they dissolve after a while.

Formats

GOAT Format

The standard format for every duel:

  • 40 to 60 cards in the Main Deck.
  • Only cards you own, up to the number of copies you own.
  • The GOAT Forbidden and Limited list.

Domain Format

An optional 1 vs 1 format built around a Deck Master. Switch the Deck Builder's format button from GOAT FORMAT to DOMAIN FORMAT to build one:

  • Pick any monster as your Deck Master with SET AS DECK MASTER. It doesn't count as part of the deck.
  • Exactly 60 Main Deck cards and up to 15 in the Extra Deck.
  • One copy of each card, and no banlist.
  • Every Spell and Trap is allowed, plus the monsters inside your Deck Master's domain: its attribute, its type, its archetype and cards it names.

In the duel, your Deck Master waits in its own Deck Master Zone and can be summoned from there like from your hand. When it is sent somewhere else, such as the Graveyard, you may put it back in its zone. Summoning it out again costs 500 LP for every time it has returned.

Choose DOMAIN FORMAT under DUEL MODE on the Duel page to play it against a rival. With a Domain deck active, you both play Domain decks. With a normal deck, it is a casual Domain duel: you pick a Deck Master with CHOOSE, or let AUTO (STRONGEST) take the strongest monster of your deck.

Genesys Format

Coming in a later build

A third format, Genesys, is being built: cards cost points from the Astra Genesys List and a deck may spend up to 100. See In the Works.
